The lesson fundamental theory discuss several game design theories, providing structure for game design thinking. We try to define game design and discuss the pitfalls of definitions in general. We examine the experience perspective in which we will approach game design. In this perspective we discuss several types of motivations, types of fun and motivational player types.

We end the lecture with how and why we classify games.
